सिम बनाना

यह लेख अभी आपकी भाषा में उपलब्ध नहीं है, इसलिए इसे अंग्रेज़ी में दिखाया गया है।

Translating a sim

Use the Languages panel on the Advanced Builder's Language tab to translate a sim's name, description and criteria. The spoken language is a separate setting.

A sim has three language settings that are easy to confuse. Decide which one you need before you start.

The language the character speaks

This is the Language field on the Character step in Simple, or the Character tab in Advanced. The character conducts the whole conversation in this language, and the learner is scored on what they say in it. There are thirteen spoken languages and variants, including Australian, British, American and Indian English, Japanese, Italian and Portuguese. Changing it changes the voice as well, so the voice always matches.

Translated names and descriptions

If learners use the portal in another language, you can offer the sim's name, description and assessment criteria in that language without changing the conversation itself. This is what the translations panel does.

  1. Save the sim. Before the first save the panel says "Save the simulation first".
  2. Open the Advanced Builder and choose the Language tab.
  3. Under Languages, tick each language you want. The choices are the portal's own interface languages, which are Chinese, Hindi, Spanish, French, German and Dutch, plus English if the sim is written in something else. Spoken-only languages such as Japanese are not offered here.
  4. Choose Translate beside each language. The toast "Translated into" confirms each one.

Translations are machine-generated. Every field is editable, and anything you edit yourself is marked "your wording" and kept. Re-translate refreshes the machine text but never overwrites your edits. If you later change the original and a translation you edited goes out of date, the panel warns you and keeps your wording for you to review.

Nothing is translated, and nothing is charged, until you tick a language.

Where no translation exists, learners see the text in the language the sim was written in.

A second language in the conversation

For bilingual learners, Second language on the Language tab lets the character also use a support language during the run. The default is None (single language). When set, the conversation is led in the primary language and the character can switch to the second one when the learner does. You set this. Learners cannot turn it on themselves.

What is not translated

The sim runner itself (buttons, prompts, status lines) is in English in every language. The scorecard feedback is written in the language of the conversation.

Translating the display text does not translate the character's prompt, documents or feedback instructions. A French-speaking learner on an English sim sees a French title and holds the conversation in English.
