Exporting xAPI records

The xAPI / LRS export on the Analytics tab of Organisation Results downloads a file of xAPI statements for your LRS, with no transcripts and no emails.

Evolve Sim records learning as xAPI statements, the standard most learning record stores (LRS) and LMS platforms accept. Export them as a file, or have them pushed to your LRS.

Export a file

  1. Open Organisation Results and choose the Analytics tab.
  2. Scroll to the panel headed xAPI / LRS export.
  3. Filter by team, simulation and Date range if you want a subset.
  4. Choose a format. JSON array or JSONL (one per line). Most LRS import tools accept either.
  5. Leave Include learner names off unless your LRS agreement permits identifying learners. When it is off, each learner is an opaque account identifier with no name and no email.
  6. Choose Preview to check the statement count, then Export followed by the format name.

The file is named evolve-sim-xapi followed by the date, and the confirmation shows the number of statements and sessions. Exporting needs an admin role.

What is in a statement set

For each completed session you get a launched statement, one progressed statement per stage reached, a completed or terminated statement, and for scored runs a passed or failed statement plus a demonstrated or missed statement per criterion. Each carries the organisation, team, session and assignment as context, and the score, band and criterion weight as results. Statement ids are deterministic, so importing the same export twice does not duplicate records in a conformant LRS.

What is never in it

Transcripts, learner emails and the contents of any reference documents. Criterion evidence is summarised to counts, not quotes. A privacy check runs on every export before it downloads. If it finds something it should not, the export is blocked with a message asking you to contact support.

Live delivery to your LRS

The Live LRS delivery panel on the same tab shows whether an endpoint is configured, the authentication mode (No authentication, HTTP Basic or Bearer token), the xAPI version, and whether learner names are Included or Opaque ids. Push to LRS sends the current scope, and Recent deliveries lists each attempt. The same privacy check applies, and a session that fails it is skipped rather than sent. To have your endpoint and credentials registered, use the Contact support form. There is no self-serve form for this.

cmi5

The export carries cmi5-ready metadata, so an LMS that reads cmi5 course structures can map the activity ids. Evolve Sim does not run a cmi5 launch handshake, so treat it as xAPI with cmi5-ready metadata rather than a cmi5 course package.

The Learning records panel beside the export is Evolve Sim's own store of the same statements. Sync records fills it for older sessions.
