Simple and Advanced builder

Simple and Advanced are two views of the same sim. Switch between them any time without losing work. Simple shows the essentials, Advanced shows everything.

There is one sim design and two ways to edit it. The Simple Builder is a wizard. The Advanced Builder is a set of tabs. Both edit the same design, so a change in one is there when you open the other, including unsaved changes.

Switching

From Simple, choose the Advanced Builder button at the top. From Advanced, choose Simple Builder. Each Simple step also carries a link to the Advanced tab that edits more of it, such as "Set weights and what good and poor look like in Advanced".

What each view shows

Simple has seven steps. Start, Basics, Scenario, Character, Success Criteria, Documents and Review. The Character step covers who the character is, what they want, what they fear, the opening mood, the avatar, voice, language and setting. Review shows a rehearsal of the sim and the Save to My Sims button.

Advanced has ten tabs. Design Brief, Scenario, Stages, Character, Knowledge, Assessment, Feedback, Language, Telemetry and Prompt Preview. Advanced is the only place to edit the character's full prompt and persona sheet, the inner state and mood indicator, stages, criterion weights, feedback instructions, safety guardrails, a second language, translations, and visibility.

Everything Simple hides is still on the sim. Generate fills it, and saving from Simple carries it unchanged.

Your wording is kept

When you change an answer in Simple, such as who the character is, the prose written from that answer is recomposed. Text you typed yourself in Advanced is never overwritten. Instead it is flagged "Written before you changed" the answer, with two choices. Rewrite from my answers regenerates it. Keep as written keeps your text and clears the flag.

Saving

Save to My Sims (or Save changes on an existing sim) is blocked until the sim has a title, a character prompt, and at least one assessment criterion, and it refuses exactly one stage. Add a second stage or remove the only one. The builder jumps to the step or tab that fixes the problem. Three to five criteria is a suggestion, not a rule.

After saving you land in My Sims under Created by me. To test before saving, use Save and try in the rehearsal panel. Rehearsal runs are free.

Who can run it

Visibility is on the Telemetry tab. Private (only me), Team or Organization. New sims are private until you deliver them. See Delivering a sim.

Unsaved work is kept on this device while you move between steps and views. If you save the same sim somewhere else, the older draft is discarded with a notice.
